Our team on this trip was very large!!! Accompanying doctors were Jeff Wilkinson, Charles Ascher-Walsh, Karolynn Echols, Bruce Crawford, Ed Stanford, Cedric Olivera, Ora Paransky, Lise Rehwaldt and Scott Eder. Kathleen Scott and Jan Ballard, both Registered Nurses; Barbara Reale and Janet Lewis, nurse/midwives, also joined our group. Medical students included John Okrent, So Young Kim, Rashmi Kudesia and Supriya Rao. Micheline Crawford, joined her husband Dr. Bruce, and graciously became our official photographer on this mission!
It is official … we have started a continuing program at the Gazobe Maternity Hospital … just a few minutes from the National Hospital. Dr. Lise Rehwaldt and Dr. Scott Eder were given a warm welcome by Dr. Madi, the OB/GYN Director. After her first week at the Maternity, Dr. Rehwaldt said, “My impression of the fulltime Attendings that we worked with was that they are excellent doctors, working as hard as they can with what they have. They were very receptive to learning, and sharing their experience as well, with us … and excited to move forward.”
